[You’re suddenly in an open, expansive room. It’s huge. If you’re familiar with the setting or have the ability to compare it to something similar, it’s like the interior of a church—pews surround you, all centered around an altar, and all of the normal religious paraphernalia—Bibles, baptismal tools, sacramental wine and bread—is present as well, in its expected place for a church or set up on a table before the altar. The area is for the most part so dark, however, that you cannot clearly see around you for farther than a few feet. It feels like nighttime, but, well, you can’t look beyond the shadows to spy the windows to know for sure...

In this deep darkness, the well-lit altar is like a beacon. Blazing candles encircle it, and you can perceive at least four human-shaped figures standing upon it. Are they alive? Watch long enough, and you’ll understand that they don’t move, shift, or even breathe.

Also, you are dressed like an angel. ( 1 , 2 , 3 , or 4 ) Have fun!

You are directly in the middle of the central aisle, one that leads to the altar. What will you do?]

1) you are welcome to tag in at any time. this heart game will be running from december 10th to december 16th! please realize i have rl responsibilities and will not always be available to tag during the mornings/afternoons of every day, but in general i will be around.

2) my goal is to get everyone to at least one "room" outside of the church, but if that doesn't happen, it's okay! c:

3) this is my first time running a game thing/heart game, so if you notice any major problems or just want to check in with me about something, please do! i am doing my best (exercise_smiley)

She pats her little tray with her hands. Ho-hum.]

You wanna sleep now? Gotta find your crib or pile of straw or whatever babies sleep on.

[Finally. It's about time, Dad. She doesn't know why you're talking about a pile of straw... But she reluctantly lifts up her hands.]

[You're her only hope.]

Alright, let's get going!

[Said a little too excitedly. He picks her up and- wait, where does she sleep? He goes looking around the area.]

[You're in the dining room area when you pick her up. Nearby is a small living room, kitchen, laundry room, bathroom, and the space for the front entrance.

The entrance has a door; so does the kitchen. A staircase running alongside the hallway from the kitchen and dining room area to the front entrance leads up to a second floor.]

[He tries the stairs! Wow, two stories, that was so rare in his time!]

[They're sturdy, unremarkable stairs.

On the top floor, there are about four doors.]

[He opens the first one.]

[This is a bedroom for grown-ups.

There's a sizable bed that could fit a man and his wife, and all the usual bedroom things... A dresser, a closet, nightstands, sparse furniture, a wooden hope chest, framed photographs on the walls and here and there.

Caren seems interested. It's not her room and she knows that, but,]

—Mama.

Mama, huh? I'll look, but I thought you wanted to sleep?

[He steps inside and scans the photographs.]

Mama! Mama, mama. Mama.

[She's so excited!]

Mama? Mama! Mama... Mamama...

[The photographs are usually of a man, a woman who looks like the "Loving Wife", and occasionally the baby, at various ages. But the man's faces are always blotted out with thick dark scratches.

The Wife is always smiling. In some pictures, she is injured or looks very unwell, and she's patched up, but she still smiles.

The baby is sleeping or making straight faces.]

[He brings Caren up close to the pictures so that she can look at them.]

Yeah, that must be her.

Mama! Mama! Mama!

[She's so happy!]

There, you got to see mama. But let's go find where you sleep, okay?

[He leaves the room and enters the next door.]

[She doesn't fuss, but follows along with you peacefully, chattering in your arms.]

Mama? Where Mama?

[The next door is just for a linens closet. Bedsheets, towels, bath supplies, that sort of thing.]

[Next door, then! Also she's probably dead.]

Hmm, she must be around somewhere.

Mama?

[What a very hopeful, adorable kid voice.]

Yeah, hopefully! [He is so bad at being a parent, holy shit

anyway, into the third door.]

[It's a bathroom!

Surprise!]

[Fourth room it is!]

[Now, this looks like a little girl's bedroom.

It's sparsely decorated, but it still somehow feels cutesy. There is a crib, toys, and a rocking chair, as well as just about anything else for a baby's room. She was loved... by someone.]

[He finally sets her down in her crib.]

There you go.

[She looks up at you, blankly.

Is she just supposed to put herself to sleep on her own?]

Mama...

[It seems she's feeling a bit wistful.]
